Corporal Joe “Red” Hartsock

Hours before the men boarded their C47’s bound for Normandy, they used what little time they had to say goodbye and write to their loved ones. Hartsock wrote one last letter to his wife and the child that he had not yet met. This is the letter Erma Hartsock received. (Click to enlarge) |
It's time to learn a little more about the character you'll be playing Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood, Joe Hartsock.
Corporal Joe “Red” Hartsock was born on May 15, 1917 in Laramie, Wyoming. “Red” worked on a ranch in Wyoming for years, before the war, and has hunted all his life. He is a superb woodsman and hunter and frequently senses dangerous situations that he believes a lot of his comrades do not understand. He has an uncanny ability to always see the enemy first.
Hartsock hit a downturn for a while during his years working on the ranch. He got in the occasional bar fight and was arrested a few times. Until he met his wife, Erma.
Erma put, what he calls, “the fear of God in him.” He settled down and set up a small ranch in Wyoming with a few horses and cows.
